Lockyers Quay, Plymouth

We had booked our meal for a Saturday evening. On arrival my Husband, son & myself were greeted by friendly, polite staff who were all dressed in various Armed Forces uniforms to mark the fact it was Armed Forces Day (Plymouth being the host this year). We were seated at our table within a few minutes. Shortly after this our waitress arrived, who was friendly; she took our drinks order & returned promptly with them & then took our food order. Whilst waiting for our starters to arrive another member of staff approached & asked if my son would like an activity pack, which was mainly colouring in.
The food arrived after what seemed a very short time-a surprise to us as the restaurant was very busy. I shared the Dough Balls & Dips & Aromatic Duck Parcels with my Husband, both were delicious, they were well presented & the portion sizes were just right. My son had Garlic Bread which he enjoyed immensely as it didn’t stay on his plate long! The table was cleared promptly, another drinks order was taken & fresh drinks were served to us within a few minutes.
Again, after what appeared a short time our main meals arrived. My Husband had chosen Chicken & BBQ Ribs Combo with Chips, he upgraded to a full rack of ribs for only an extra £2, which we thought was a great price. I had chosen the Bacon & Cheese Topped Chicken Breast with Chunky Chips & my son had chosen a Margherita Pizza with Chips & Beans. The food all looked lovely, again the portion sizes were good & it tasted delicious.
As with the starters the table was cleared promptly. There was a varied choice of dessert on the menu, as well as a ‘specials’ board. My Husband chose the Lemon Meringue Sundae, I opted for Fresh Strawberries & Clotted Cream (as recommended by the Manager) & my son chose the Mini Chocolate Challenge. Again, the food arrived very quickly, we were not disappointed with our choices, they looked & tasted delicious, the portion sizes again just right.
The bar & restaurant areas were well decorated & clean. I would say there was a family friendly atmosphere-we had asked the Manager if we were allowed to sit in the bar side after our meal (as our son is 10 years old), as there was a band playing, he stated that it would be fine & offered to reserve us a table.
