Along with my 20 month-old twin girls, I was given the opportunity to review the Tech-Too Kooky Keys. My girls are obsessed with playing with my car keys and these, lifelike toy car keys, can give parents peace of mind that their toddler can have keys just like their parents without the worry of losing them!
The keys are packaged securely in a brightly coloured box and ideal for giving as a present. They consist of a remote unit and 3 different coloured keys in red, yellow and green. The remote unit is big and easy for little hands to grasp onto. It also has buttons in the same colours. When these are pressed, a voice speaks out the corresponding colour. There are also sound effects following. The key also folds into the remote unit and flicks out away from the remote unit like an actual car key. I thought this was a nice touch.
The product could be used straight from the box. I liked the ease of use, no having to fiddle about inserting batteries. I could just take it out of the packaging and hand it straight over to my daughter to play with.
To get it out the packaging was a struggle as it was tied with various wires and would need to be disposed of straight away so do not come into contact with little ones. The box was clear and well laid out. It was colourful and eyecatching and would make me stop to look at it.
The keys are aimed at an age range of 12-36 months. My girls are 20 months and I believe this is the correct age to aim them too. I think over 2’s may be too old to use this product but I am sure any child below this age would love to pretend they are like a grown-up with their keys.
For this reason, I would give the product 4/5. They would make an ideal stocking filler present or for a younger toddler.
