Thank ABBA for the Music the Waterside Theatre Aylesbury Review

We were super excited to be reviewing Thank ABBA for the Music at the Waterside Theatre in Aylesbury on Thursday 28 September 2017. One of my favourite theatres, it is very accessible and easy to find. We got to the theatre in good time and collected our tickets, our seats were nice and central with a fab view of the stage.

What’s not to love about ABBA, we thought, there won’t be a song we don’t know we thought, we will be dancing in the aisles from the off we thought. Not quite! I didn’t know the first three songs. I felt completely disappointed. This was not how the show was supposed to go.

Don’t be put off it was fabulous. There has been a lot of effort put into this show it is not just a tribute band up on stage. Real footage plays behind the band giving a fascinating backdrop to the songs and the group itself. Costumes worn on stage tonight looked an exact replica of those worn by the band back in the 70s, giving the band a very authentic feel. You either love ABBA or you don’t, the band gave a credible performance belting out all the favourites you would expect. The audience spent more time on their feet than sitting down, almost everyone was up such was the party atmosphere. Personal favourites Dancing Queen and Waterloo topping the show. I loved it, for a few hours on a Thursday evening I was belting out the songs with ABBA!

It’s certainly not a night out to be missed, dancing, singing great entertainment. The end of the show came far too soon and I could happily have done it all again right there and then. A superb night out, I’m sure you could watch them again and again. They are on tour across the U.K. and I would definitely recommend going to see them.
