What a fantastic night from start to finish. I cannot recommend this incredible venue highly enough. We parked close by in the multi-story car park and entered this large, colourful venue which was stylishly decorated with vibrate wall art and photographic glimpses of a Cuban life. There was an impressive array of seated areas which were both beautifully lit with an array of hanging ceiling bulbs, table candles and fairy lights and sumptuously decorated with a mixture of fine fabrics and cow hinds.

At the entrance, there is a small outdoor seated area which leads through to an extensive  indoor seated  arrangement of spacious dining booths, communal areas (used on this occasion to gather together football fans and watch the World Cup), two long bars and array of fantastically original and eye catching party areas.

The restaurant has a considerable food, cocktail, wine and even a cigar menu (see website to view all menus). One of its main attractions is a spectacularly impressive choice of rums from around the world, a mere 150 varieties in total! With its lofty ceilings and its spacious dining and drinking areas it really does tick all the right boxes for a great evening out. Whether you love the Cuban food, drinks or music or just fancy trying something new this place does not disappoint. It was both clean and inviting and its wide thoroughfares and flat flooring made it ideally suited for wheelchair and pushchair access. The high standard of decor continues throughout the venue with beautiful superior washrooms, an immaculate disabled toilet along with baby changing facilities.

There is a youthful vibe about the place. The staff were all young, welcoming and friendly and the place has a great ambience of relaxed enjoyment for all to share. We were told that at the weekends the music gets turned up, the tables get pushed back and salsa dancing is thrown in the mix whilst mid-week the mood is a quieter affair, focused on the delicious food and wonderful drinks aplenty. The super talented bar staff mixed together the most incredible cocktails and I thought the prices were very reasonable (around £7 each). We had to try the highly recommended Mojitos from the specials menu, which certainly did not disappoint, and we also chose a wonderful Very Berry Cuban from the more extensive cocktail menu. These cocktails are really something else.

We then returned to our table and the staff could not have been more attentive and as we perused the menus, including a great children’s menu, we felt neither rushed nor neglected. Our waiter was consistently on hand to answer our numerous questions, was able to make some pretty cracking recommendations and he ensured that we had everything we needed for a perfect evening.

Throughout the evening our food arrived promptly, was piping hot, beautifully presented and accompanied with a large fresh, tasty salad and a delicious Cuban slaw. The menu caters for meat, seafood and vegetarian food lovers alike and we were really spoilt for choice.

Our starter of albondigas meatballs in a rich tomato sauce with a side of cheesy garlic bread was wonderful.  For the main course, we tried both the delicious Cuban dishes and the amazing burgers and thoroughly enjoyed both. The portion sizes were very generous and everything we saw coming out of the kitchen looked incredible and our fellow diners appeared to be enjoying the sumptuous meals just as much as we did. Both the red and white table wines were very good indeed and the dessert menu was as fabulous and tasty as the main and packed with variety.

In summary, this place is well worth seeking out. Bristol does have an extensive array of wonderful restaurants to choose from but, in my opinion, this is right up there with some of the best. We had a truly memorable evening that we thoroughly enjoyed and will be sure to return again and again.

Rating: 5/5 thumbs_up
