I attended Ferneham Hall on Sunday 18th February 2018 to see The Jerseys perform their show “Oh What a Nite” on the first of two consecutive performances.

The show was back at the venue by popular demand, to celebrate the music of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons. The evening was hosted by Leye D Johns (direct from Blackpool), who used Northern humour to engage with the audience. He focussed on jokes about being a gay man and used direct banter with the audience and singers to entertain. At times this took rather a pantomime theme; especially when hyping up his singing prowess and eventual vocal performance on stage.

The four-part harmony vocal line-up featured Dominic Creighton, Jack Wealthall, Daniel Cartwright and Max Fox. Many favourite songs were covered, including Big Girls Don’t Cry, Walk Like a Man, Oh What a Night, Rag Doll, Who Loves You and Sherry. Dominic Creighton was the main singer with his great falsetto voice, which was showcased with his passionate rendition of Fallen Angel by Frankie Valli. The Viva Showgirls provided glamour to the show, with their many costume changes and choreographed lively dance routines. The host, singers and dancers gelled well together; in particular the rapport between the singers was very evident in shared humour asides, which the audience thoroughly enjoyed.

Throughout the performance the audience were actively encouraged to sing along, clap and dance to the music. This they did with relish, and indeed audience participation was a key element to the success of the show. An enjoyable show; recommended, with a 4-star rating.

Ferneham Hall is on Osborne Road, behind Fareham Shopping Centre and adjacent to Osborn Road multi-storey carpark. There is also provision for parking immediately outside Ferneham Hall. All parking is free after 6pm.  If you are coming by road there is easy access off Junction 11 of the M27; by rail the venue is a 15-minute walk from the railway station.

Rating: 4/5
