When I was asked to review The New (Incomplete) Complete and Utter History of Britain I was a little unsure if it would appeal to me, whilst I love Michael Palin I have only seen him in movies such as A Fish Called Wanda which I loved him in, I hadn’t seen any of the Monty Python movies or shows at all.
I decided against reading what was in the DVD or what it is was about so I could view it will open eyes and a fresh mind. The first thing we watched, my husband watched it with me as he is a huge Monty Python fan, was the 50-minute feature containing new linking material by Palin and Jones which was hilarious funny, it had clips of the original shows that were broadcasted in the 60’s with new linking parts with Jones and Palin, such which give the show a new feel and both were as funny and witty as ever.
We watched the two original episodes which were shown as they were recorded which meant they were a little jumpy and the sound was not overly great but it had a realness to it I didn’t find with the rerecorded ones, I loved the short sketch about courting love which was very tongue in the cheek and also what felt like an older day location look around Stonehenge for the prefect home!
Also highly amusing were the medieval adverts and film trailers, I especially enjoyed the ad where a lady was cleaning the floor with spit and was introduced to water which helped her to do the job in half the time! And the purchase every man needs, a women!
Everyone needs to buy this DVD, even if you are not a fan of Palin or Monty Python I believe you would still deeply enjoy it, this kind of show is not something I would normally watch or enjoy but I wholeheartly loved it!
For a jolly good time and laugh a minute go buy this DVD now!!
