The Snugglewump by Lou Treleaven Review

Reviewed by David Savage
The Snugglwump, written by Lou Treleaven and illustrated by Kate Chappell, is the tale of a child’s most loved toy and its journey of discovery.
Molly has lots of toys. They are bored waiting for her to come home and play with them so start discussing who is the most loved of all the toys. They all believe it is themselves for a variety of different reasons. The Snugglwump isn’t really a toy, just a piece of fabric so feels left out and lonely, why would anyone love a small piece of fabric that doesn’t do anything? He sneaks quietly off through the catflap wishing it were something else so that Molly could love it more.

The Snugglewump is an engaging story about self-discovery, love and belonging. Beautifully written with flowing rhyming text it has just enough words per page to hold a child’s attention. It has been illustrated so that it complements the text very well and young children can understand from the pictures what is being told.
A sweet story that children will enjoy.
