The Adventures of Toddy and Tessy by Emma Williams Review

Reviewed by Michelle Wright

This is such a beautiful book – it reminds me of the stories I read when I was a little girl (too many years ago to mention!)

The book consists of small complete stories of two rag dolls who are the very best of friends; Toddy and Tessy who live in a toy chest in a smelly, dark and lonely attic. They miss being played with and can only watch the children below them through the gaps in the wooden floor… suddenly they discover that actually, the attic was full of amazing magical items which could take them to fabulous adventures including tea parties, trips with pirates and even meeting the big man himself, Father Christmas.

Each story is a perfect length to read before bedtime at about 11 pages of text. My 7 year old daughter read the stories herself and we managed to read one a night. Each story is split up with occasional black and white line images which are beautifully drawn and enabled my daughter to picture what some of the characters looked like.

I think this is a lovely book with enchanting stories – perfect for a child with a great imagination (and to be honest, I thoroughly enjoyed the stories too!)

A very magical 5 out of 5.
