The Bionic Woman: Season 1is a science fiction series first produced in 1976 Starring: Lindsay Wagner as Jaime Sommers. The DVD boxset with 14 episodes has some pretty action packed material.

Wagner stars as tennis pro Jaime Sommers who is nearly killed in a skydiving accident, her life is saved by Oscar Goldman (Richard Anderson) and Dr. Rudy Wells (Martin E. Brooks), by "bionic" surgical implants similar to those of her finacee Steve Austin (The Six Million Dollar Man). This gives her amplified hearing in her right ear, a greatly strengthened right arm, and stronger and enhanced legs which enable her to run at speeds of 60 miles per hour. Jaime now leads a double life, one as a school teacher, the other as an agent for the Office of Scientific Investigations (OSI) battling fembots, spies, aliens and mad scientists.

The episodes look decidedly '70s with soft focus, muted colors, and plenty of scratches and dirt specks. Yet you can't fault the DVDs: they look as good as you'd expect for vintage television. The crazy plaids give the image fits, but on the whole I was impressed with the clarity of this one almost four decades later.

It's all pure '70s fantasy and silly sci-fi that’s exciting. Lindsay Wagner was my favorite actress as a child and The Bionic Woman was my favorite TV show of all time! I would rush home after school so that I could see her battle it out with Steve Austin against the evil Fembots who appear in Series 2! As I watch the show now, it's still fun to see the super-human strength Jamie had as she went undercover for many a mission for the OSI. As cheesy as the "special effects" look now, you have to admit they were pretty cool in their day and made the show a lot of fun. To all the show’s creators, producers and directors I applaud you for a job very well done!

Overall we had a great few evenings watching this amazing DVD boxset, a must buy to reminisce about our favourite 70s childhood heroes.
