We visited The Old Mill on a Wednesday evening at the end of the month and it was a good job that we had booked as there was barely a table left in the restaurant! All the food can be served in the restaurant, outside dining or in the pub area where there are plenty of tables. We started our meal with the popular 'Favourites' Deli board to share.

There was plenty to share for a couple as a starter with delicious spiced tomato humous and crudités, chunky fish goujons and aioli, cubes of breaded hot Brie, slices of honey glazed ham and beet root relish plus a stack of warm pitta slices. We completely cleared the board and would have licked the bowl clean of humous had we not been in public!

For our mains I tried the Jimmy Butler Slow Roasted Pork Belly, served with Savoy cabbage and cider fondant potato and a dollop of chunky apple sauce. The pork was delicious and was very tender and went well with the accompaniments. My husband tried the 28 day dry-aged 8oz rump steak with garlic and shallot butter served with chips, watercress and roasted root vegetables. The steak was tender and the butter melted into the meat and tasted delicious!

For pudding I tried the sinfully dark chocolate and mint terrine with salted caramel sauce which was rich and melted in the mouth! My husband had the banana cake with toffee sauce which was a delicious alternative to banoffee pie.

The service was outstanding and each meal arrived perfectly presented and cooked. We were pleasantly full when we left and thoroughly enjoyed our evening. I highly recommend the restaurant as well as the pub itself.
