The Tommee Tippee Microwave Steam Steriliser comes in a box sized for the product, unlike some items that swim in their packaging and are a workout in themselves to locate the item within. The box also gives some quite useful information on the packaging, showing how simple this product really is to use. The steriliser, although compact, is deceptively large, I have a modern and quite small microwave and at first I was worried it would not fit, to my surprise it fitted neatly, with space to spare, so I need not have been concerned at all.
The steriliser is a doddle to use, the instructions are very easy to follow and a worth reading in full, as although it says the microwave time is 4 minutes, its more than likely 6 or 8 minutes for your average microwave due to the wattage on domestic ones, the advice is provided on in a neat table in the leaflet. The leaflet itself refers to several diagrams which are not present on the leaflet in the pack I have, however the leaflet it refers to can be easily located on their product website, along with any other instructions you may fancy perusing through.
The steriliser is easy to load and comes with a Tommee Tippee bottle, I personally love the Tommee Tippee bottles, as they have the lovely natural teat that is great if you’re breast feeding and want to express and feed for flexibility. The steriliser is more universal though and will easily take other bottle makes, as most mothers will tell you, not all babies are the same and a colicky baby or a fussy baby may lead a new and desperate parent into purchasing every bottle make on the market to give their precious bundle the best feeding option. If you find yourself in this boat, but have purchased a Tommee Tippee steriliser, there’s no need to stress, as you’ll still be able to sterilise without issue.
The pack comes with tongs, which are great for removing hot teats, or enabling you to touch them as little as possible, so they remain as sterile as possible when making up milk. There is also a dummy provided in the pack, so even for parents determined not to have their bundle of joy dependent on a dummy for comfort, at least there’s one available in case there is a desperate moment in the night; or for the pro dummy parent, an extra one for the required stash.
The things I like most about it are that it is reassuring, it says the contents will be sterile for 24 hours as long as unopened, so I can sterilise before I go to bed and its ready to go in morning or for the night feed, then ii just rinse, add water and stick it back in. Finally, I hate having objects all over the kitchen surfaces, the very nature of sterilisers is that they are bulky and yet another item cluttering up the work top, but a microwave steriliser can be stored in the microwave, with the clean sterile bottles inside it, this is perfect for anyone with limited space, or like me, a dislike of clutter. With an RRP of £26.99, this is a very reasonably priced essential for any new parent.
