Having attended numerous performances at Tunbridge Wells Assembly Hall over the last few years I was very pleased to receive an invitation from Brian McAteer, Theatre Director, to the unveiling of the newly refurbished theatre.
The theatre has been lovingly updated in Art Deco style with a stunning carpet, black, grey and yellow décor and soft furnishings. The auditorium has benefitted from newly upholstered and comfortable seats and a top of the range new sound and lighting system to enhance the shows held here even further.
The bar area has seen the biggest transformation and really wows with its modern art deco styling. A fabulous bar refurbished with polished metal top and locally produced crisps, beers, juices and ciders has been brought into the 21st century with the availability to use both credit and debit card payments instead of the old cash only system, they even take contactless and Apple Pay. Stunning chandeliers, grey and yellow sofas and a new coffee bar with trained barista’s complete the look. The amazing local range of ice cream remains luckily!
Monday to Saturday 9.30-15.00 in the lower bar sees the opening of the new Pup café, a soft play area for under-fives with plenty of excellent cake for mums and dads. The café does a selection of hot and cold meals & drinks at reasonable prices including baked potatoes and panini. Entrance is £2.50 per child over six months and monthly passes are available for £15.00.
With the addition of the Pup café Tunbridge Wells Assembly Hall really does have something for everyone both daytime and evenings. Take a look at the schedule of shows on line and come take advantage of the lovely new seats and sound system. You won’t be disappointed.
