I have heard such amazing stories about Vive le Cabaret, that I was extremely excited to have the opportunity to review the show at the Lowry Theatre in Salford, Manchester on Saturday 19 July 2014.

When we arrived at The Lowry, we found it very accessible. We parked the car easily in the safe, multi-storey car park and walked the short distance to the modern, attractive theatre, with its expansive riverside views. We quickly obtained our tickets from the desk and were shown to our seats by the helpful staff.

Vive Le Cabaret was well known to many of the audience who were eagerly waiting in anticipation for the evening’s entertainment. The Master of Ceremonies, Benjamin Louche, introduced the first act, Jo Foley, an amazing contortionist, who made the audience gasp as she twisted and twirled her body into seemingly impossible positions.

Simon Self, the show’s magician entertained us with card tricks and Gypsy Charms, the burlesque artist treated the audience to an exotic striptease. Singer Em Brûlée has an incredible voice and wowed us with a mixture of Nina Simone and Liza Minnelli numbers. However, the star of the show was A.J. James who took audience participation to whole new level, performing a balancing act while members of the audience hurled knives for him to catch and then juggle with.

I thoroughly enjoyed my evening at The Lowry and would recommend Vive le Cabaret as a night of fun adult entertainment.
