Frank Skinner is a deft and confident comedian. He played very much on the fact that he is now older as “one of the only greying comedians still at large” and more comfortable in his own skin.

This performance at the New Theatre Oxford was full of laughs and life experiences that were both charming and hilarious. His interaction with the audience led to some fabulous ad libs and his years of experience in the business shone through. He pondered his fame in a self-defamatory way wondering if donating old suits to charity with his name attached might return money to the cause and was obviously reflecting on a life in the limelight. His more racy anecdotes, while hilarious, concentrated on the notion that his “sex drive” was now “more of an overgrown garden path”. My 20-year old son was squirming in his seat (sat beside his mother) as the content became a little more “blue”, but both of us enjoyed the show and so I can recommend it to 20-somethings and 40-somethings!

The show at the New Theatre Oxford was sold out – extra seating was drafted in – and the audience populated with middle-aged couples along with some student types in small groups (not a huge surprise in Oxford).

Overall, we delighted in this one night showing within a longer tour, which goes on to play at Northampton, Guildford, Worthing and beyond.
