Wheelgate Theme Park
Reviewed by Debbie Talbot & Family
We recently went to try out the new water park area of Wheelgate Theme Park. We found the park easily using sat nav but it was also well sign posted too. There was plenty of room to park and helpful staff on hand in the car park. Whilst there were no toilets situated outside the park, they were close by once you got inside.
The girls spotted a bug bouncer and had a brilliant time jumping up and down. They then went on the runaway train and merry go round. We spent most of the afternoon in Robin Hood’s water park. This will be further enhanced when the changing rooms are completed later this year. It wasn’t a very hot day, so my partner and I sat with our one year old twins while watching the girls enjoy the various slides. The older child in our party was more adventurous and tried out a lot of the slides whilst my 7 year old daughter opted for the tamest slide. The funniest part of the water park was that every so often a barrel of water emptied over the people using the water park and they got soaked. After some persuasion and quite a few ‘one more go, please’ we managed to retrieve the kids from that area of the theme park. While they went off to get changed I took the boys to the animal’s area where they were delighted to see all kinds of animals such as sheep, ponies, snakes, degus, rabbits, chinchillas etc… We didn’t see the Birds of Prey but hope to on another visit.
We then headed in to one of the many covered areas for the girls to try out the hall of mirrors and cyber ride. There was a lovely soft play area for very young children which we didn’t get to try out but that looked great. After a bite to eat my partner headed over to the maze with the older children while I took the boys into the sand pit. Plenty of buckets and spades were provided, diggers etc… and they had a great time.
There was plenty for children of all ages to do and you might want to consider buying an annual pass as we didn’t get around everything in one afternoon. All of the toilet facilities were clean and well maintained. Even in bad weather there are loads of rides you can go on.
We are looking forward to our next visit.
