Whitney: Queen of the Night at the Grove Theatre Dunstable Review

Friday night (22 September 2017), I went and watched Whitney: Queen of the Night at the Grove Theatre in Dunstable along with my 13-year-old daughter.

The foyer was busy and a warm welcome good atmosphere and buzz, lots of people queuing to get drinks. Upon taking our seats, I don’t think there was spare seat in sight. We knew we was in for a good night as there was lots of groups of ladies in the audience.

Shanice Smith also known as Shan Smile is a 24-year-old singer-songwriter based in South London. Shanice is a brand new leading lady, who has such fantastic talent and beautiful voice. Shanice performed beautifully over 2 acts and included all the favourite hits of Whitney Houston, So Emotional, Saving all My Love, I Wanna Dance with Somebody, One Moment in Time, I’m Every Woman, My Love is Your Love, Run to You, and many many more. The show beautifully brings Whitney Houston back to life. From the very first song, the audience started dancing even in the end of the aisles and every song that followed was a great success and hit. The whole audience were almost on their feet from start to end of both acts. A standing ovation was given at the end with lots and lots of applause.

Shanice looked the part very confident, she wore some beautiful dresses and costumes and stole the stage. The backing singers all sang beautifully and very confident. The band and saxophonist, all played well and were very talented. It was obvious that Whitney and everyone had rehearsed and worked very hard to bring this tribute to Whitney. A big well done. Shanice got the audience involved also and the banter was brilliant. The choreography was ace and cleverly put together. No wonder the show is such a success.

I would most definitely go and see this show again and can’t wait for the show to return. A great performance. It was lovely witnessing so many people out enjoying themselves and bopping away, strutting their stuff.

A super, most enjoyable and pleasant evening, you must go and see it if you have the opportunity, very impressive.
