My two boys (aged 8 and 11) as both are wrestling mad and have a lot of other WWE merchandise so I was delighted when I was asked to review this playset.
First things first – make sure you have a large clear area ready before you open. There are 208 pieces of tiny blocks, characters and props (think Lego’s smallest components) which I was quite surprised by as it is recommended for ages 6 plus. I’m not sure mine would have had the patience to do this at 6 to be honest, but if you have a child who is already building Lego models then they should be fine. Luckily the pieces are bagged up in sections so when they excitedly tipped the box out we didn’t have building block Armageddon. This also means pieces don’t get lost before you start building the different sections!
The set comes with easy step by step building instructions (which is good as there are so many pieces I wouldn’t have known where to start) and my children managed to build it on their own.
The end result is a WWE style, 2 storey gym in which the figures can ‘train’ and ‘fight’.
I was pretty impressed with how much detail the figures have. Each little wrestler is about 2½ inches tall and bends at all the joints meaning the boys could mimic actual wrestling moves with the characters. Also they knew who each figure was supposed to be at a glance as the costume and facial features are well done too.
The blocks are built as well and I can see them lasting a good few years, even when being played with in rough play. They also fit with actual Lego meaning the children have already incorporated larger platforms into their games with more scenery and a ring.
On the whole a great play set for any WWE fan, just be aware that younger children may find it a bit fiddly. I will be buying one for my Nephew for Christmas!
