A very good, emotional and well put together book which I enjoyed reading. It’s like a Romeo and Juliet storyline but with a modern twist. Without giving too much away it’s about two families affected by the same crime, and the upheaval in each of their household. The two main characters, Mikey and Ellie, from each side of the family fall in love and it all comes down to telling the truth or staying loyal to your family.

Jenny Downham is a fantastic raw writer who sucks you into the book and makes you feel like you could actually be there, standing in front of these characters. Her description is very convincing, capturing the emotions effectively with such a brutal subject to tackle. The book is clearly aimed at the teenage generation with the two main characters being 16 & 18, however if you’re 16 or 60 I am sure you’d enjoy it.

I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending this to anyone as it’s a real page turner that is hard to put down!  I will definitely be looking out for more Jenny Downham books in the future.
