I love shopping for food at ALDI but they also have some great home and garden Specialbuys that change weekly. I always get really excited about the ALDI Special Buys and so was happy when a lovely selection of their Restaurant at Home range arrived to review. I was sent the following items:
Crofton Serving Plate & Dome £19.99
Crofton Condiments Caddy £9.99
Small professional saucepan £9.99
Medium professional frying pan £14.99
Large professional saucepan £19.99
Professional utensils – Spatula £2.49
Professional utensil – Spaghetti spoon £2.49
Serving dishes £9.99
Hard anodised oven trays £14.99
Ambian0 Milk Frother £19.99
The first item I received was a Crofton Serving Plate & Dome. This is comprised of two parts, a nice and sturdy round wooden board in a natural bamboo colour and a glass dome with fits into a slot on the board. I used this to serve cheese and biscuits tonight and it was the perfect size for this purpose. I like the fact that the dome acts as a cover for the food. I think it would be great to serve desserts such as cake on.
The next item I tried out tonight was the Crofton Condiments Caddy. It’s white in colour and looks really smart, it is available in steel or wooden design (I received the steel version). It’s great to be able to use the handle to carry everything into the living room at once, rather than juggling the various containers. It comes with a salt shaker, pepper shaker, oil pourer and vinegar pourer.
On Tuesday evening I decided to cook spaghetti bolognaise. I chopped some onions and mushrooms up into nice small pieces and fried them in the medium professional frying pan. The pan lived up to its non-stick properties and did not burn. I used a larger frying pan which I already had to brown the mince. I then put the contents of the medium professional frying pan into the large frying pan. I used the small professional saucepan to heat the ALDI bolognaise sauce, then added it to the main frying pan. I cooked the spaghetti in the large professional saucepan, using the spaghetti spoon to stir the contents of the saucepan while cooking. The spatula was great for the main frying pan and the contents of the pan did not stick or burn. I used the larger of the baking trays to cook the garlic and coriander nan bread.
I do enjoy buying frothy milky coffee from coffee shop I frequent, so I was delighted to get the opportunity of reviewing the Ambiano Milk Frother from Aldi’s Restaurant at Home range.
The instructions are easy to follow and I set up the milk frother for first use very quickly.
This clever product has a dual capacity – 115ml for milk frothing and 250ml for milk warming. It’s available in four fab looking colours (grey, red, cream or black). I received it in gloss black. I was pleased to discover that it has the following safety features: self-lock stirrer, auto switch off and anti-leakage system. It even has a handy max level mark so you don’t accidentally overfill it.
The product itself is a 360 degree cordless jug. It heats the milk to around 65 degrees. The jug has a double wall. A matching coffee capsule machine is available. This is the perfect appliance to make delicious lattes or hot chocolates at home. It certainly gives my coffee shop latte a run for its money.
All of the items look great as well as being very functional. What struck me most was how well made the items were. I loved the fact that the serving dish was a smart white colour and had handles. The two smaller oven trays will be great for when I am cooking a Sunday roast.
I rate all of these items 5 out of 5 for value and quality.
The items will be available to buy online from 2 March and in stores from 9 March but once they are gone, they are gone, so pop down to your nearest ALDI store and gets yours today! For more information or to find your neareat ALDI store visit www.aldi.co.uk.
