Baby Art’s My First Year is a lovely present or gift for anybody with a new baby. Everyone likes new baby photos, but with this kit there is a block of modelling material so you can capture a timeless foot or hand print which will be remembered forever.
I had my youngest grandson who is eight months old staying with us, so the kit arrived at the right moment.
When I went to use it, I found you need two people to be able to use it properly; one to hold the baby and one to press their hand or foot, whichever you choose, into the modelling material to make the print, as at this age he just wanted to grab the modelling material. We had a few attempts but succeeded in the end and the result was pleasing. We just rolled the modelling material up after each attempt, so don’t worry if you need to have a few goes the kit also comes with a small wooden rolling pin so you can roll it out a few times before it becomes less pliable once finished just leave it to air dry. Once the print is made it takes approx. 6 hours to dry at room temperature and then need to be turned over and allowed to dry for another 24 hours before it is complete. There is an instructional video on their Baby Art website.
The kit also comes with a small sticky pad to hold down the print in the photo frame once finished.
The frame with this kit is a light beech colour and there is room for twelve photos. The photos have to be fairly small but gives the ideal opportunity to hold a photo for each month of the babies first year.
There are easy instructions to use the modelling material and you can use the scan opportunity on your phone to watch a demo video if needed. There is also a Baby Art leaflet to show all of the other products they have, some usual ones if you get stuck for a unique gift also check out their online website.
The gift will last a lifetime and you can look at the photos and the hand or foot print when they get older and remember how little they once were, as babies grow so quickly. I really enjoyed completing the kit and choosing all the photos to put in the frame of my grandson, my daughter was really pleased when I showed her the finished product.
