I recently decided with a good friend of mine to open an after school group for children with Special Needs and Disabilities so was absolutely delighted to be chosen to review this brilliant and rather fun looking train set from Bigjigs.
The set arrived very quickly by courier and was packaged extremely well meaning the box was in perfect condition when it arrived.
The 40 piece set is bright, cheery and looks great fun and I have a feeling this set will become a favourite of the youngsters in our group.
Opening the box I found: 2 straight track pieces, 12 curved track pieces, 1 bridge, 3 buildings, 4 trees, 2 signs, 3 cars, 1 train, 3 carriages, and 5 people.
As you can see above you get a lot included and the track is simple to assemble as the ends are like jigsaw pieces.
Each item is finished to the highest standard and the wood smooth which is perfect as little fingers and wooden items usually means splinters! Ouch!!!
The train carriages and train connects together with magnets and the cars and train wheels all move easily on the tracks.
The size of the track once laid is a generous 1020mm width and 460mm depth which is big enough for children to play with but not massive so other activities can be played whilst the track is out.
The track can be made larger using another Bigjigs sets and tracks or by using other branded wooden tracking as most other brands are compatible with this set. My daughter has a set upstairs so we will be using that at the group alongside this one to make one big track to encourage the children to play together and take turns in using the cars and trains.
A fantastic set which is worth its weight in gold.
