Glasgow was treated to “The Greatest Pantomine of them all” Cinderella, at the SECC Clyde Auditorium, with a star studded cast of John Barrowman and The Krankies as they return to Scotland for pantomime for the 5th year.
Cinderella, written by Alan McHugh and Jonathan Kiley and produced by Jonathan Kiley had the perfect panto recipe: a talented cast, John Barrowman and Janette Krankie as brothers Buttons and Zip stole the show but were supported by Ian Krankie (the Baron), Melanie Masson (the Fairy Godmother), Rachel Flynn (Cinderella) and the fashion victims, Senga and Sadie, the Ugly Sisters (Graham Hoadly and Wayne Fitzsimmons); shake of music; a pinch of special effects; plenty of singing and dancing and a generous serving of humour – Glasgow humour at its best!
The show was a great way to kick off Christmas festivities and is suitable for the whole family, there are plenty innuendos for the grown-ups but will go over the head of the younger members of the audience. My 10 year old loved it all but his favourite character was Zip, he thought she was really funny and enjoyed the stunts she did… I don’t want to give too much away!
I really can not recommend Cinderella highly enough- you will not be disappointed!
It is a long time since I have been in the Clyde auditorium – it is a huge venue but has a great atmosphere, was very clean with plenty of legroom and the staff were friendly and helpful. The SECC is easily accessed from the M8 and has plenty of parking within the multi storey car park (though this is expensive at £7), by train from Central Station or bus from the city centre.
Cinderella is at the 4 January 2015. For more information or to book tickets click here or call the box office on 0844 395 4000.
