Edifier Multimedia M3280BT Bluetooth Speakers Review

The M3280BT Multimedia Bluetooth 2.1 speakers are another great product from Edifier for home and office use. With 36w RMS (20w 6½ bass driver, 2x 8w satellite speakers) they are loud enough for anything you would need for personal use at home or work whether that is playing games, listening to music or internet radio or watching your favourite television shows or films.
The M3280BT speakers are very stylish in a matt black finish (I only have one niggle about them but will come to that later).
The speakers measure 124mm (W) x 255mm (H) x 125mm (D) and the subwoofer measures 235mm (W) x 244mm (H) x 293mm (D). The right speaker has the controls and connect to the subwoofer with a 9-pin serial cable (approx. 1.5m in length) and the left speaker connects to the sub by a RCA cable (again with approx. 1.5m cable). The length of cable is long enough to position the satellite speakers where you need them. The right speaker has the volume up/down and mute buttons on the side and bass and treble controls on the rear as well as a headphone jack. The speakers themselves look very elegant and are seated on silver coloured plastic stands. On the rear on the sub is the power on/off switch and dual RCA ports for aux and PC input.
Bluetooth connectivity is extremely simple and connected to my iPad and Samsung tablets just by searching for available Bluetooth devices and clicking connect. No configuration needed so even the most non-technical person can connect.
While there is a RCA cable supplied to connect to your PC or laptop connecting via Bluetooth is the most simplest option and means no hunting for cables or being limited by cable length. Using Bluetooth I was getting a great signal up to about 10 metres, after this it started to drop out before losing signal completely, but this is enough for most rooms in most houses depending on where you position the speakers to where the device you are using is.
The sound quality is excellent and well balanced, even at the loudest volume. I used the speakers via Bluetooth to watch films on Netflix, playing MP3’s and internet radio and the sound is perfect for home use.
Now for my slight niggle that I mentioned earlier, the volume control buttons on the side of the speaker are made of rubber and while the work easily and are not flimsy I feel that they look very cheap (although if looking at the speaker face on you don’t see them and once you have set your desired volume level you would adjust sound volume from your connected device so you probably won’t use the buttons much). Maybe plastic buttons or even a touch control would be a better option?
Overall these speakers have great quality sound, look very elegant and have plenty of connectivity options with obviously the Bluetooth connectivity being a great draw as you can connect your phone or tablet without any hassle. For around £70 they are an excellent option for 2.1 desktop speakers.
