Lady Killers
Complete Series 1

Network DVD

Reviewed by David Savage

This is a 2 disc DVD set with a running time of 350 minutes about “the gentler sex”, women who have been accused of murder and the court cases that followed. These are reconstructions of the actual murder trials from Victorian times with introductions from Robert Morley. It contains 7 episodes and a picture gallery:

 – Murder at the Savoy Hotel
 – Not For The Nervous
 – Lucky, Lucky Thirteen!
 – Killing Mice
 – Don’t Let Them Kill Me On Wednesday
 – Miss Madeleine Smith
 – Suffer Little Children

This is a great DVD box set for lovers of true crimes, with excellent performances throughout. All the stories acted out are true and include stories such as the trial and execution of Ruth Ellis. It also shows the difference in the law of then and the law of today including things like the accused were not allowed to give evidence as this was supposed to protect them!

An enjoyable box well worth watching if you like crime and punishment stories.

Rating: 4/5
