This weekend we visited Frankie & Benny’s on the Croft Retail Park in Bromborough to sample the new breakfast menu. Anyone who is familiar with Croft Retail Park will know that parking within the retail park is a bit of an issue so this was initially a bit of a concern for us on a busy Saturday morning. However Frankie & Benny’s is situated at the quiter end opposite the cinema with its own little parking area so we were pleased to find a space right away.
On entering the restaurant we were quickly greeted and shown to our table, which was within a little circular booth. This was ideal for our family of 5, giving us plenty of space and the booth helped to contain our rather free spirited three year old and left room for a high chair for our one year old. The children were given colouring pencils and book to keep them entertained until our food arrived. The waiter, Matt, took our drink orders and we were left to choose our breakfast. I was really impressed with the breakfast selection, especially as I am vegetarian but there are plenty of options available to suit both a vegetarian or meat eating diet. The drinks soon arrived and we were pleased to see that there are free refills of hot drinks available with breakfast, good for keeping caffeine levels up for a day with two little ones!
A short time after ordering our breakfast arrived. I had blueberry pancakes, which consisted of 3 buttermilk pancakes with honeycomb butter and blueberries on top and some maple syrup on the side. The pancakes were delicious and although it was all very sweet I loved it. My husband opted for and greatly enjoyed a massive portion of the traditional breakfast with sausage, three rashers of streaky bacon, two fried eggs, grilled tomato, button mushrooms, baked beans and crispy herb potatoes. Our 11 year old daughter had bacon and pancakes, which again was 3 buttermilk pancakes but with streaky bacon on top and maple syrup. The little ones both had a kid’s breakfast with a sausage, slice of bacon, an egg and baked beans, it was a big portion of breakfast for them, and for the youngest her first ever ‘traditional’ breakfast but they both gave a good attempt of eating it all!
All in all we were very pleased with our food and found it both tasty and satisfying so we are definitely planning to return for breakfast again. I have already chosen the smashed avocado for next time as it was my close second choice! The bill came to £31.10 which was great value for all the food and drinks we enjoyed. We were also impressed with the service we received and felt the staff were pleasant and friendly without being intrusive. The laid back atmosphere of Frankie & Benny’s made it an enjoyable experience to enjoy a family meal out with young children without being stressful.
I would give the breakfast menu at Frankie & Benny’s, Bromborough 4 out of 5.
