Hairspray at the Edinburgh Playhouse Review

To be asked to review the award-winning Hairspray at The Edinburgh Playhouse was probably the best thing ever.

The West End's favourite musical comedy, Hairspray tells the story of Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and an even bigger heart as she sets out to follow her extraordinary dreams, inspire her mum and win the boy she loves.

On arrival at the Edinburgh Playhouse we were greeted by the lovely Emma who was so nice and friendly.  We were given our tickets and proceeded to the bar then to our seats.

The performance was truly amazing and watching the actions of other people around us dancing away and singing was brilliant. The whole atmosphere was exhilarating.

Having watched the film numerous times was nothing compared to seeing it live on stage. The choreography was so in sync and the songs were sung to goosebump perfection. And how they managed to sing and dance making it look so easy was a pleasure to watch, especially Mark Benton and Paul Rider's duet which had everyone in stitches.

I would highly recommend this show to anyone and advise them to take their dancing shoes with them because after all – You Can't Stop The Beat.
