Jimmy’s Restaurants Staines Review

The finest international cuisines under one roof!

Reviewed by Laura Beresford

I was invited to review my trip to Jimmy’s in Staines by www.whatsgoodtodo.co.uk and it certainly was something good to do!

An absolutely stunning location, right on the banks of the River Thames.

We booked in advance as I am vegetarian and have a wheat allergy. I normally dread the stress of eating out so took the advice of the website which advises booking dietary requirements prior to visiting. The staff were perfectly happy to cater for my needs, yay!

We booked for 12pm on Sunday 11th June and arrived dead on time. We were the first diners there and the food was not yet fully out for the buffet. We chose our drinks: the children chose a Kinder milkshake each (originally, they had wanted Oreo flavour but this was unavailable), Chris had a refillable Pepsi and I treated myself to a Mud Slide cocktail! (this is my favourite cocktail EVER!)

At 12.15 we were still the only diners so we were shown around the food buffet area.

WOW!

I’ll admit my children aren’t over-adventurous when it comes to flavours so they were delighted that chips and chicken nuggets were on offer as was pizza. They also tried a variety of different foods from world cuisines which is an amazing opportunity for children.

I stuck mainly with the Indian dishes. The onion bhaji was delicious and easily rivalled the best I’ve ever tasted. There was a fantastic dal which I had several helpings of plus a paneer and spinach curry. I also tried the Chinese inspired Kung Po Potato which was spicy hot and went well with the egg fried rice.

Chris tried all sorts of great dishes and his favourite was the tandoori chicken. Zach had rice and chips and little samples of the less spicy dishes.

And then pudding. I was far too full to try anything myself but the children adored this course! The desserts were beautiful and – judging by just how much the children ate – delicious! There were jelly cubes, cakes, fresh fruit, ice creams and sweets. Zach kept pointing to the cakes for more!

By the time we left, the restaurant was quite busy with families all tucking into the vast variety of dishes.

Overall, we were completely impressed by our visit to Jimmy’s in Staines. Yes, it was frustrating having to wait 15 minutes at the beginning of our visit but the food was incredible. The staff were all really helpful and ensured our visit was memorable. My dietary needs were easily catered for and the food was carefully labelled with allergens. Zach’s high chair had a few crumbs when we arrived but we quickly cleaned it off and got on with enjoying our lunch. The toilets are big so when I trundled in with my eldest 2 there was room for us all

We all left with very full tummies and a smile on our faces. We are definitely planning a return visit soon…!
