I had been contemplating getting a smoothie maker for a while so when I saw the JML Nutri Blitzer up for review I instantly put my name down.
The Nutri Blitzer is a lime green 700W blender that comes with an array of different bits and pieces to make nutritious smoothies, shakes and superfood drinks.
In the box you get the Nutri Blitzer Power Base, 2x 650ml short cups, 1x 900ml tall cup, 2x Easy-drink handles, 1x extraction cross blade, 1x milling blade, 2x resealable lids and a 160 page recipe guide and instruction manual.
After reading through the recipe guide and instruction manual I was inspired to get on and make myself some delicious smoothies.
The first smoothie I decided to make was the ‘Energizer’ from the recipe book. As a total novice to the world of smoothie making I followed the recipe to a tee. It was delicious, super easy and quick to make and my 2 year old son loved it too which I am really happy about as I am always keen to fit more fruit and veg into him!
I unpacked the box and gave everything a wash (I’m happy to say that the cups and blades are all dishwasher safe). I then got on with preparing all my fruit and getting my ingredients together.
There is no need to peel or de-seed the fruit as the Nutri Blitzer breaks them all down for you and the cups all have max fill lines on them so there is no fear of overfilling them.
The Nutri Blitzer was really easy to use. All you need to do is put the ingredients into the cup, screw on the blade and fit it upside down (so blade side down) into the base unit. You then push the cup down to use a pulse blend or you can twist it in to the base unit for a constant blend.
It took about 30 seconds to blend the smoothie I was making. I was quite amazed at how simple and fast it was. The smoothie was really tasty and smooth, not gritty at all like it would be if it were made in a regular food blender.
The Nutri Blitzer isn’t too noisy either. I have a food processor which is much louder than the Blitzer, and as it’s only blending for a short period it isn’t too bad at all.
When using the whole unit it felt very powerful and could cope with the heaviest of jobs. I tried using the grinding attachment soon after just to check the results and it made light work of Brazil nuts and pumpkin seeds that I blended up for the ‘Nuts and Oats’ breakfast bar from the recipe book, I’ll be making that again soon!!
The cups, attachments and base all felt very robust and chunky which is always very good to see. The blades you get are very adaptable, so if you’re in the middle of a recipe you can just swap cups and the blade and continue with the next ingredients.
If you make a drink in the tall cup it’s easy to decant your drink in to the smaller cups and attach the handles and away you go.
If you want to make another drink straight after making one all you need to do is rinse the cups and blades under warm water and it is good to go again.
This is very versatile and neat for the power you get, it just seems ready for anything.
The base unit isn’t huge or heavy which makes it handy to either leave out on the worktop a or store away in the cupboards.
I’m super impressed with the Nutri Blitzer and I think it is something that will become part of my day to day life (once I have mastered a few more different flavour smoothies). It is super easy to use and clean as there are no small fiddly parts that need taking apart and putting back together.
The recipe book that comes with the Nutri Blitzer is brilliant. I feel really inspired to try a lot of the recipes in this book. I’m not too sure what a lot of the powders are or where I can get them from, but hopefully with a little bit of research I will be able to source them. However, I don’t think I will be rushing out to try these just yet. I will practice with the fruit, veg, nuts and seeds that I already have.
I love this blender and give it a definite 5 out of 5. I am very excited to keep on testing smoothies to see which I like.
