Even though I’ve never read the novel or even watched the film, I had heard of the film Legally Blonde, so I was looking forward to going along to the theatre this evening with my friend to see this well talked about musical, with it’s fantastic line up of celebrates.
The show starts with the Delta Girls singing and dancing around the stage and you meet the most adorable little dog ever! A little Chihuahua named Bruiser who belongs to the main leading character Elle Woods, played by Lucie Jones. The girls are excited for Elle as she believes her high school boyfriend, Warner Huntington, is going to propose to her, so the girls help her chose a dress at The Mall.
Then the stage is set in a romantic setting and Elle believes this is the moment. But oh how wrong she is, when really her long-time boyfriend is dumping her and heading off to Harvard Law School.
Elle wants to prove she’s not a dizzy, pink mad blonde girl, and decides to take on a fresh challenge herself and also leaves Malibu and enrols at Harvard Law School.
Once there she discovers Warner already has a new girlfriend, an intelligent looking Vivienne Harrison. But this doesn’t stop her she is still determined to win him back.
The musical continues with fantastic non-stop singing and dancing from all the cast. You meet Professor Callahan, played by Bill Ward, who is bit full of himself and later kisses Elle! You also meet Paulette Bonafonte, played by the very talented Rita Simons.
And now that Elle is starting to learn more about ‘Law’ she managers to help Paulette get her beloved dog back from an ex-partner.
Without spoiling the story there is anabsolute hilarious moment when Paulette meets UPS Delivery Guy. ‘Kyle’ – it had the audience in stitches! There is also a scene in the court room where Elle manages to help prove jailbird Brooke is not guilty in a murder trial. You again will be in stitches with the Gay or European Singing! And brilliant skipping and singing scene from Brooke and a few others. How they managed that without Getting out of breath!
Legally Blonde is a fantastic quick scene changing musical. With brilliant singing and very energetic dancing! With some of the best one-liners I’ve ever heard. So funny.
You will leave singing OMG You Guys! And not forgetting the Bend and Snap routine! Definitely worth going to see…
