Mr Lee’s Gluten Free Rice Noodle Pots Review

Reviewed by Louise Totton

Being coeliac, I can often find it an absolute nightmare trying to grab a quick snack or lunch on the go. Something warm and filling, in a hurry, is something that I really struggle with these days, and my fall-back position for lunch at my desk is soup, which just isn’t hitting the spot.

With this in mind, I was ridiculously excited to be asked to try out Mr Lee’s No Nasties Rice Noodles. The range is 100% gluten free, and within that is a selection of mild, medium and hot options, vegetarian options and meat and seafood options. There really is something for everyone.

The noodles freeze dried and are in a cardboard cup, all you have to do is add water and wait. Presentation-wise, I think the packaging is great. It matches the oriental flavour range really well, and is not trying to compete with Pot Noodles – these have a much more ‘mature’ and high quality look.

The instructions to make these up couldn’t be simpler. Add water, stir, cover and wait. The product was ready in 2 minutes and the noodles were thoroughly rehydrated and warm – not still slightly ‘crunchy’ as some instant noodles can be.

I was really impressed by the fact that the pot was completely full after the noodles were made up. They made for a really satisfying, full meal and they tasted fantastic. All of the flavours had their own distinct flavour and I have to say that I enjoyed every single one of them. They all tasted like they we supposed to taste. No chemicals or artificial flavours, just good quality, natural ingredients. My absolute favourite was the super spicy Warrior Fighting Shrimp, which had a massive kick. As much as I love spicy food though, I also loved the milder ones, and the Shaolin Monk Vegetable one was quite superb.

As well as selling the pots, Mr Lee’s will also be placing vending machines across the country, to supply truly convenient, fast food on the go. I cannot tell you how excited this makes me; I really struggle to eat anything on the go in town, barring I’d I strike super ‘lucky’ and manage to get a cardboard flavoured wrap before they all sell out.

I think this is a fantastic proposition, and I really wish the company the very best of luck with both this side and the retail side of the business too. The products are absolutely fantastic quality, and a real treat for coeliacs and non-gluten free people alike.

I can’t wait to find these in the shops, and hopefully find a vending machine near me too.
