My Name Is Paddington Review

Reviewed by David Savage

With Christmas on the way I was sent some Paddington plush bears from Rainbow Designs to try with 4 year old twins, who were more than willing to play with them. We received the Talk To Me Paddington and My Name Is Paddington soft toys.

The My Name Is Paddington is a super soft plus bear that measures approx. 21cm tall. He comes with just his trademark red hat, no wellies or his famous duffle coat. If you squeeze his tummy he says “My name is Paddington” and if you squeeze a second time he “Roooaaars”.

This bear is a nice size for toddlers to hold and is extremely soft and the phrases he says are very clear and understandable.

The only downside with this bear is that is requires 3x LR44 button cell batteries which, unfortunately, are not replaceable (you would have to cut open the bear to get to the batteries). So once the batteries run down it will no longer utter any phrases. While, in theory, is a good idea so children can’t get access to the batteries is limits the functionality of the bear. With the Talk To Me Paddington the batteries are behind a screwed down compartment so they can be changed.

So, as a talking toy it will have limited use but as a cuddly toy it is excellent as super soft and a great size for small children.

Because of the battery issue, which I assume is a safety feature for younger children, I would have to rate it as 4 out of 5.
