Quartieri Pizza Restaurant London Review

Quartieri – A welcome addition to the neighbourhood

I recently dined at the newly opened Quartieri on Kilburn High Street London (about a 5 minute walk from Kilburn tube station). It prides itself on being an authentic Napolitano pizzeria.

Upon arrival, it was evident that this new pizzeria had a great ambience about it. The restaurant has a really lovely feel and is warm and friendly.

A friendly member of staff greeted us within a minute of entering and seated right away.

You instantly feel at ease with the dark wood interior. It was quite busy when I went on a Thursday evening and the patrons seemed relaxed and happy!

The menu itself has a good selection; it was difficult to know what to order because everything looked so good.

My trusty server asked us what we like and made some recommendations, which were spot on! It is interesting to note that the options all seemed very ‘clean’ and fresh and healthy as opposed to your average pizzeria!

We began with the starters, which were delicious! The bruschetta in particular is the best I have ever tasted anywhere. The starters were also very generous portion sizes, loaded with tomatoes and you could actually see the chopped pieces of garlic.

It turns out there is a very specific reason for this. Everything from Quartieri is fresh and the food is sourced from Naples. Any produce that does not come directly from Italy is sourced locally and there are great pains taken when sourcing these ingredients. Also on one of the walls of the restaurant are potted herbs and chilies which customers are welcome to pick and season their food! You don’t get much fresher than that!

I was also fascinated to learn that there was an excellent selection of independent wines, which were imported from the Napoli region. The house wine was of special interest because it is made with a vineyard whose vines grow beneath Mount Vesuvius and the wine itself contains a lot of minerals!

Next to the mains. There was a great deal of choice and the chefs are very flexible and happy to make versions of pizzas for vegetarians and also have a number of non-cheese pizzas! I decided to try the Lemon Costeira Amalfilana which is a cheese pizza with the unique addition of lemon rind baked on top. It was the most unusual pizza I have ever had but I enjoyed it. I found the portion sizes to be much larger to what I am accustomed to, without sacrificing on taste.

Despite being very full we could not resist trying the desert! The Tiramisu was superb and beautifully presented.

Overall, the food at Quartieri was very good, very fresh and prepared well. I thought that the dishes were very priced well for London, especially considering the big portion sizes!

Little touches in the presentation of the meal really made a difference, and the service really made you feel like your custom was valued with an attentive staff.

I rate the Quartieri a strong 4/5 and am looking forward to returning in the near future.
