I was delighted to have the opportunity to review the Silk Road Restaurant situated in 151 Grafton Gate East, Central Milton Keynes. We found the restaurant very easy to locate and there was ample parking at the time we visited which we had booked and chose to dine fairly early as didn't want to get home too late for our babysitter, our reservation was booked for 5.30pm so we had to pay a small price to park but obviously if you visit after 6pm parking is free!

Upon arrival in the restaurant, which was a Saturday evening, we instantly noticed we were the first diners. We chose to take up the offer of sitting in the bar area and having a drink whilst looking at the menu! Here there was a lovely lounge area of 4 or 5 tables and comfortable leather chairs! We instantly noticed the nice décor and plenty of staff. We were given the menus and asked what we would like to drink, my husband chose coke and I asked for a glass of white wine, this arrived within 5 minutes or so. We then spent the next 5 minutes or so studying the menu which offered Indian, Chinese and Thai cuisines. The waiter then gave us a little history on this family restaurant and described some of the speciality items on the menu. The award winning head chef Saj Kahn introduced himself to us as well as our friendly waiter. We were taken to our table and the first thing I noticed was how the tables were spread out nicely, this is something you very rarely find in this day! This is good for any business clients or even couples, friends and families who want to have a private conversation! There was also a separate dining area for larger groups which would be ideal for someone's birthday or celebration.

Within about 20 minutes of us arriving the restaurant started to fill up with customers, large groups, couples etc.. and I guessed some would drop by straight from shopping as the shopping centre is only about a 10 minute walk away. The restaurant is close to the railway station too and local businesses.

We took our time exploring the menu (whilst enjoying some poppadum’s and prawn crackers along with 4 chutneys, these were all complimentary and the chutneys were lovely and colourful with lots of flavours). There was a really good choice of starters, mains and desserts, something for everybody including a whole page of vegetarian choices too. There was also a very good choice in drinks, champagnes, wines and specialising in over 30 cocktails, liqueurs, as well as non-alcoholic soft drinks and a variety of coffees and traditional and Indian teas.

We decided to choose crispy aromatic duck for starter (£15) and share and then Thai Green Curry (£9) and Egg Rice (£3.50) and a Tandoori Kebab Platter (£13) to share as our mains. All the food was lovely presented and very colourful with some really lovely flavours. We had enough to eat and after being shown the desert menu and beverages with selection of coffees etc… we decided not to order anything else. However the dessert menu was very tempting, offering ice-cream, sticky toffee pudding and cheesecake to name a few!

Our meal with 2 cokes and 2 glasses of wine came to approximately £53, this was reasonable. The restaurant also offer a takeaway menu and buffet lunches on a Sunday, I would definitely consider going back to visit for this with my 3 children as there is something for everyone. The restaurant also offer themed nights, I wouldn't hesitate booking this restaurant for one these special evenings in the future and would definitely look forward to visiting this restaurant again.

Upon leaving our table approximately 1½ hours after entering the place was buzzing and I would say 3 quarters full so very popular with locals and shoppers wanting a lovely dinner.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the facilities spotlessly clean and inviting.
