My husband and I recently enjoyed an evening being spoiled at The Stockbridge Restaurant. The Stockbridge Restaurant is located in St Stephen Street in Stockbridge, a trendy suburb of Edinburgh with many boutiques and independent shops. Stockbridge is to the north of the city centre and a walk of around 10 to 15 minutes – a perfect pre and post dinner stroll! Although we found parking easily on the street close to the restaurant.

We were warmly welcomed by the owner and member of staff who were the perfect balance of attentiveness and allowing us time to enjoy our evening. Our drinks order was taken once we were settled and a selection of fresh bread was quickly on the table with a chive and chervil dip which was so fresh and delicious, I could have eaten only that and been very happy!

The pre-starter of Parma ham and mozzarella with a balsamic glaze was so tasty. We enjoyed starters of battered cod and chips with tartar sauce and pork fillet wrapped in pancetta with pork belly, cheeks and black pudding with sweet potato puree, the different ways with pork created different textures and flavours.

The main courses were divine! Corn fed chicken breast with wild mushroom risotto, leek puree and a Madeira sauce and Gressingham duck breast with a duck sausage roll, creamed savoy cabbage and bacon, fondant potato and jus. The duck was perfectly cooked and melt in the mouth.

We had a small break before being served passion fruit sorbet then our deserts of Banana tart tatin with butterscotch sauce and vanilla ice cream and chocolate brulee with chocolate brownie, white chocolate mousse and milk chocolate ice cream… heaven on a plate!

The restaurant is certainly focused on quality, using many local suppliers and supporting the slow food movement of Good, Clean and Fair food and have been awarded AA rosettes and other accolades.

The restaurant was faultless from start to finish and the food was superb. I would highly recommend visiting The Stockbridge Restaurant, you will not be disappointed.
