The Wrong Pong: Troll’s Treasure by Steven Butler Review

Reviewed by Lacey East (Age 8)

This book is about a little boy called Neville who gets an invitation to go down the toilet by a band of troll pirates and becomes a part of their family. He has lots of disgusting adventurers down under. My favourite bit was the chapter on Old Barnacles boat tours. They get swallowed by a “Gundiskump” which is a giant monstrous fish in the great “dooky deep”.

Neville has lots of horrible experiences to deal with and the evil troll Grandma Jaundice and has to join forces with her to rescue his troll family. I wouldn’t like a Grandma like her. Neville was only supposed to be down the toilet for a weekend and missed 2 weeks of school.

I am 8 and found the book easy to read by myself it also has some really funny pictures inside too. I love the troll dictionary at the back of the book and the funny jokes! I can’t wait to read the other books written by Steven Butler. This book is really funny and I loved learning a new language. It’s completely “sogsome”, very “delunktious” and “grottish”!

Mum’s opinion: A perfect read for all school age children. Never a dull moment down the u- bend of the toilet!
