The new Travelodge Manchester Piccadilly is located facing Piccadilly gardens it is a perfect location for any short stay visit to Manchester whether that be a night out with friends, business or a trip with the family.

On arriving at the hotel you are greeted by a very clean entrance and reception area. The receptionist was professional and polite, she was also efficient in finding the booking and advised me in that front door would be closing from 10pm and that you would need the use of your security card to gain entry, I was also made aware that the restaurant and bar would serve drinks until 5am if we wished to have a drink or something to eat.

On the way to my room I noticed the signs all had brail printed on them for anyone with sight issues which I thought was very good and not something I have seen in a hotel before.

The room itself was basic however it was very clean and spacious, there was a large queen sized bed with four pillows. There was a rail to hang your clothes on with 6 hangers and a shelf above but no actual enclosed wardrobe but for just an overnight or two nights stay this would be more than adequate. There is also a dressing table with reading lamp and a chair situated in front of the window and the best thing I have ever come across in a hotel was an American pub style bottle opener screwed to the end of the dresser (this came in handy later on). The bathroom was a little small but clean. There was a shower sink and toilet and towels were provided the only thing missing was a shower mat for the floor which got a little wet after the shower but the surface was not a slippery one so was safe just wet. The door to the room is really thick but it wasn’t till the morning we realised the benefit of that when we had slept all night and not heard anybody outside in the corridor something you always get in a hotel, to add to the quietness was the double windows although a great view we did think it would be noisy late on in the evening with the location but you could not hear a sound from outside which was lovely. There was a TV with lots of TV channels and radio to choose from.

TravelodgeManchesterWe had a drink in the bar before going out for the evening and the prices were reasonable and there was a nice atmosphere with BBC news on the large screen TV with subtitles and then the radio and music on in the background. The bar area is part of the restaurant which looked very clean and comfortable to eat in. The food menu was reasonably priced and had meal deal offers including drinks, there was a wide variety to choose from. They also served Chicago style pizza 24 hours a day to take away (great for those late night munchies). There are also 2 vending machines in the reception/bar area which serves cold drinks and snacks.

On returning to the hotel later that evening I expected the door to be locked to be pleasantly surprised and greeted by a security guard who had a list of guests and rooms people were staying in, this for me was very reassuring that the hotel was secure and safe. I later learned that the they do regular walk rounds on each floor throughout the evening to make sure that all is ok, again very reassuring especially if you were staying there with children or on your own.

In the morning we went down to have breakfast and I was very impressed with the selection and the turnover of fresh food. The staff were very helpful and whilst I was there witnessed this when another party asked for hot milk and it was no issue to warm some through and they brought it to the table. The cost of breakfast is very reasonable at £7.95 and children eat free with paying adult. There was a huge selection of breakfast cereals (catering for all tastes, from healthy cereals to sugar coated cereals), there were pastries and muffins, fresh fruit, yoghurt, toast and jam. The hotplate had eggs, sausage, bacon, tomatoes and beans and was regularly replenished with fresh food. I had the bacon which was lovely it was well cooked and not greasy and fatty, the eggs were perfect too. The have a coffee machine, tea and fresh fruit juice. It is all buffet style so you can just help yourself in your own time to what you wish.

I would stay at this hotel again both with my partner and the family. The hotel has everything that you need for an enjoyable and pleasant stay.
