Worlds Apart StarBright Multi Storage Unit Review

Reviewed by Emma Bradley

This StarBright Multi Storage Unit was reviewed by myself with the help of my 2½ year old son.

The StarBright Multi Storage Unit is a storage unit designed to be used in a toddler’s nursery or bedroom. The unit is made from MDF coated in white with the edges accented with a wood effect making the unit look very high quality. The shelves contain a large base basket and two smaller baskets which are made from a cream fabric. The top part of the shelf is shaped to resemble a cloud with a central divider making it perfect for books and toys. There are wooden pegs at each end for hanging bags and coats.

I have to say I was pretty daunted when I opened the box and saw all the flat pack pieces but I have to say the unit was easy to assemble and the instructions we simple and logical to follow with good illustrations. The only slight variance was a screw in the picture being different to that provided with the kit.

At first I admit I was a little disappointed at the small size of the unit as the picture on the box made me think that it would be bigger. However once assembled and seeing my toddler using it I realised that actually it’s the perfect size for intended users (18 months – 5 years). It is just the right size for them to really be able to use it without worry that it may fall on them, which makes it perfect for toddler bedrooms.

My little boy was immediately attracted to it and demanded that I got his animals out so he could put them away in the drawers! Anything that can encourage a two year old to tidy up gets my vote. The design of the unit with its cloud shape and neutral colours means that it would fit in with most décor schemes and is totally unisex, I also think it’s the type of design that would suit an 18 month old as much as the 5 year old.

The only real negatives to this piece is that in parts the finish isn’t quite what I thought it would be, however most of these bits are hidden from view so are less important. Overall this is a quality piece of furniture that would fit most preschool bedroom styles, the baskets offer a generous amount of storage for the size and the shelves are practical for books. The small height of the unit means it really promotes independence which is definitely a good thing. I was so impressed with this unit that I have already been online to look for the matching bed.

I would give this product 4.5 out of 5, the slight mark down is simply due to the finishing of the product in some places. I will however be recommending this to my friends.
